VStabi types, history and differences:
The Mikado VStabi has been very popular since Mikado started production, so 9 different hardware generations have evolved alone in the short time from summer 2006 up to the end of 2010.
With every new hardware generation, the VStabi System has gotten some improvements.
Now, the question is how to identify them, especially by having a look at the "pirouette optimization" and for use in a nitro or gas (IC) heli.
Here is a list of the 9 generations manufactured until now:
Owners of the older VStabi units with serial connector (1. and 2. generation) can use the pirouette optimization procedure to find out which sensor they have.
1. Generation: Serial connector, external converter Serial=>USB, sensor for electric helicopters, sensor with metal case, value for pirouette optimization approx. 42, serial no. starts with 9.
2. Generation: Serial connector, external converter Serial=>USB, sensor for low vibrating gas/nitro and all turbine and electric helicopters, sensor with metal case, value for pirouette optimization approx. 30, serial no. starts with 9.
3. Generation: USB port "on board", sensor for low vibrating gas/nitro/turbine and electric helicopters, sensor with metal case, value for pirouette optimization approx. 30, Serial starts with 9.
4. Generation: USB port "on board", new sensor for all types of helicopters, sensor with plastic case, serial no. starts with 14.
5. Mini VBar: USB port "on board", all-in-one solution, sockets for 2 spektrum satellites, usage up to 1 m rotor diameter on electric powered helis only, serial no. starts with 15.
6. Generation: The same as 4. generation and including additional Spektrum satellite sockets, serial no. starts with 141.
7. Mini VBar Blueline: USB port "on board", blue coloured body with a red V, sockets for 2 spektrum satellites, usage on electric helis only, serial no. starts with 151.
8. Standard VBar Blueline: The same as 6. generation but with newer sensor technology. Sensor more precise and more resistent against vibration than the black ones.
9. Standard VBar Silverline: The same as 8. generation but with latest sensor technology. Sensor again a bit more precise than the blue ones, better axis signal separation. Also again a bit more resistant against vibration than the blue ones.
In general the sensors from Series 4,6,8,9 can be mixed in use. The data protocols at the communication sockets are all the same.
